This is a vibrant painting full of energy and joie de vivre, inspired by a quote from Hamlet. It is about having the courage to embrace colour again when maybe you have been through a colourless time.

I live in Kent near an old WWI airfield where we regularly walk the dog and I often think what it must have been like taking off from this small field when you can see France across the channel.  The bravery and miraculousness of these flights is what inspired this painting.  The title is from a poem describing flight from a WWII airman and it has the most wonderful lines:

'And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings ... Put out my hand, and touched the face of God'.
